Life-saving Milestone!
Since we launched our first pilot in April 2024, we’ve saved 50 lives. That’s 50 people who are now living healthier lives, spending time with their families, and getting a second chance.
I believe, a startup’s success depends on three things:
✅ The right idea
✅ The right timing
✅ The right team
Timing is always the hardest to get right because it’s beyond your control. When we started Pulse Charter Connect two years ago, I could never have predicted that our launch in 2024 would coincide with major changes in the organ transplant system. Recently, the government ended a 40-year exclusive contract held by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) over the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) contract, opening the door for additional innovative solutions that help us save more lives.
The Senate’s overhaul is a huge step, allowing more players to innovate and help more people get that chance at life.
The numbers tell a painful story:
✔ Over 100,000 people in the U.S. are on the organ transplant waiting list, but only 45,000 transplants are performed annually due to organ shortages and transport inefficiencies.
✔ Approximately 28,000 organs go unused annually due to transportation delays, geographic barriers, and challenges in matching donors and recipients in time for successful transplants.
✔ 17 people die daily waiting for an organ transplant.
The recent legislative changes are a huge step forward, allowing new players to bring much-needed innovation to a field that directly impacts people’s lives. Our advisor, Barry Friedman, testified in the Senate, saying:
“In many cases, organs must connect from one flight to another, leaving airline personnel responsible for (airline) transfers. While anyone can track their Amazon or FedEx package, there is currently no consistent way of tracking these life-saving organs.”
At Pulse Charter Connect, we’re changing that. With a solution that saves lives and a team from stellar backgrounds—including NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Techstars, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and top health systems — we bring our mission to life every day. We’re not only growing and hitting financial milestones; we’re also building trust and making a real difference. And we’re only getting started.
